Authorities released a 911 call on Tuesday featuring Kaylub Giamanco, the father who killed a student shooter inside an Oregon elementary school.
The recording, which lasted just over sixty seconds, captures Giamanco speaking to a dispatcher while driving home for lunch. He stated that someone with a gun was present at his daughter's school in Bend.
"I have a gun and I swill shoot them right now," Giamanco told the operator. The dispatcher urged him to hold his position until an officer arrived, but Giamanco appeared frustrated by the instruction. He declared he was about to kill the intruder.
Moments later, Giamanco reported that the shooter was entering the building. When asked if the intruder was firing, Giamanco confirmed yes. The call ended shortly after that exchange.
The incident occurred on Oct. 15 at Silver Rail Elementary School. Griffin J. John II, age 16, forced his way through locked doors into a special needs classroom. He killed three students and one teacher. Another student was critically injured, and a second teacher was hospitalized.
A teacher attempted to stop John before Giamanco arrived. Giamanco entered the school through an open window, opened the classroom door, and fired his weapon, dropping the shooter to the floor.
