30 Rounds Fired at Mooresville Barn Party, Injuring Four
Sheriff says social media promotion swelled the crowd to 300, far exceeding the venue's expectation, before the early morning gunfire began.

Thirty shots rang out at an event venue in Mooresville, North Carolina, in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, leaving four people with injuries that required hospitalization. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. along Coddle Creek Highway in Iredell County. Three of the wounded have since been discharged, and the fourth remains in stable condition.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Captain Julie Wyatt stated that investigators estimate between 200 and 300 people attended the gathering. Driver’s licenses collected at the scene indicated that a large portion of the attendees traveled from outside the county. Wyatt attributed the high turnout to multiple online promoters advertising the event, a factor she said caught the property owners off guard.
“We spoke with the owners, and we are confident they had no clue how big this was going to be,” Wyatt said. “I think it hit social media and just spread like wildfire.”
Investigators have recorded approximately 50 witness statements but continue to seek input from other attendees. Wyatt noted that most witnesses reported hearing the gunfire rather than seeing the source, which has complicated the timeline of events. No arrests have been made, and the four victims have not been publicly identified. Deputies confirmed there is no ongoing danger to the public.
The scene remained cluttered a day after the shooting, with empty alcohol bottles, food containers, discarded clothing, and dozens of chairs scattered across the property. A woman renting a home on the site described the event as unusual for the location, which typically hosts weddings and birthday parties. She stated she was asleep and learned of the incident only when a Mooresville Police officer instructed her to secure the windows and doors.
Patty, a long-time resident down the road, expressed concern for neighbors with young children and grandchildren. She described the parking situation as extensive, with vehicles lining the highway and fields. “It’s actually terrifying to know that many people were shooting,” Patty said. “We’re very concerned now. We have kids getting off the school bus. I have grandchildren here. This is a quiet place.”
