Registration is required for most programs at Cooper-Siegel Community Library and its Sharpsburg branch, as space is limited and some events fill quickly.

The libraries provide a variety of programming for visitors of all ages. To view a complete list of offerings, visitors can access the online calendar at coopersiegel.librarycalendar.com. The schedule can be filtered by age group and location.

Staff encourage visitors to register through the online calendar so they can plan accordingly. Phone registration is available at 412-828-9520 for the main branch and 412-781-0783 for the Sharpsburg branch. Drop-ins are accepted for some programs if space permits.

Cooper-Siegel Community Library, located at 403 Fox Chapel Road in Fox Chapel, operates from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It opens at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and closes at 4 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.

The Sharpsburg branch at 1212 Main Street has different hours. It is open from 1 to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Fridays. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. Parking is available at the library and the metered 13th Street Municipal Lot.

Both locations will be closed on November 26 and 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Pickup lockers for held items are located behind Jersey Mike’s at 171 Freeport Road in Blawnox and outside the Sharpsburg library. These lockers were funded by the Allegheny Regional Asset District’s Transformative Community Library Fund grant program.

At Cooper-Siegel, upcoming events include a STEAM Lab for grades K-6 on Tuesdays until December 8. A bilingual Spanish and English storytime runs Fridays, while a Chinese and English storytime is scheduled for the first Saturday of each month. Teens can attend Craft n’ Things on Thursdays or the Makerspace Walk-in Hours. Adults may join Mid-week Knitters on November 11 or a somatics session led by trainer Tom Capriotti on Mondays until December 14.

A poetry workshop led by Kelley Beeson will meet on November 17 and in December. At the Sharpsburg branch, Wiggle Time is offered on Thursdays for young children. Children in Pre-K through sixth grade can read to Mishka, a certified therapy dog, on the first Saturday of each month. Maker Monday offers hands-on activities for grades K-5, including Diwali crafts and a turkey build in November.

Adults at Sharpsburg can attend Game Night on November 9 and December 14. An anxiety peer support group meets on November 11 and 18, and December 2 and 9, led by the library’s community support specialist intern. A Craft & Chat session is scheduled for November 18, where participants will create art for the Free Little Art Gallery on Main Street. A collaborative mural drop-in will take place on November 13 and December 11 for all ages.
