Jesse Watters warns GOP may never win White House again if Texas stays blue
The Fox News host said Democratic midterm gains, including a sweep of statewide races in Texas, could lock Republicans out of the presidency for good.

Fox News anchor Jesse Watters is warning that Republicans could be permanently shut out of the presidency if they fail to win back power in Texas, pointing to Democratic gains in this week's midterm elections as a potentially fatal blow to the GOP's national prospects.
Speaking on his show Thursday night, Watters described the Democratic victories as a possible death knell for Republican chances in future presidential contests. Democrats captured every statewide office on the ballot in Texas on Tuesday, leaving Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as the only Republican still holding statewide office in the Lone Star State.
"They seize Texas and are on pace for the biggest midterm landslide since Watergate," Watters said. "Now, if Texas stays blue, a Republican will never sniff the White House ever again."
Watters argued that Republicans had spent two years targeting Democratic opponents with few clear wins to show for it, and he cautioned that Democrats would not "take it easy" on the GOP now. "They want it extinguished. They're already talking about abolishing the Electoral College, impeaching the president, and executing Elon Musk," he said, adding that Democratic governors now control a majority of the states where most of the population lives. No Democratic elected official has called for the execution of Musk.
The host also pointed to Democrats' near-win among white voters this cycle as evidence of deepening Republican struggles. After airing a clip of a Texas Democratic lawmaker discussing minority groups joining to form a majority voting bloc in America, Watters said that after Tuesday, such a strategy could succeed.
"They're talking about uniting the minority races against whites. Texas Democrat politicians are declaring a political race war. And they could win, because Republicans nearly lost the white vote Tuesday," he said. "Democrats are on the cusp of winning a majority of whites, Blacks and Hispanics. Open borders is suicide. The Democrats are about to win a Senate seat in Mississippi. Black guy. That's like Republicans winning Hawaii."
Watters placed part of the blame for the midterm losses on the candidates themselves, singling out Ken Paxton (R) in Texas and Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.). He also rejected the idea that the results were a typical midterm correction for the party in power.
"This wasn't your standard midterm thumping," Watters said. "When [former President] Obama got blown out in 2010 and 2014, those races were close. And he didn't almost lose the Black vote like Republicans almost lost the white vote."
