Epic Development has spent the last decade building nearly 100 residences in Uptown. The company converted the former Central Presbyterian Church, built in the 1880s, into two luxury homes. Owner Michael McAllister says the firm focuses on neighborhood revitalization. He notes that most projects began as vacant buildings or blighted lots. The goal was to create housing that connects to the local character.

The property at 2037 Forbes Avenue is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo. It lists for $555,000. The neighboring home at 2039 Forbes Avenue will list soon for $575,000. Three new townhouses facing Seneca Street are also planned. These structures represent infill development on vacant lots. Realtor Shay Dalal of Compass Real Estate describes the space as distinct. He points to the 27-foot ceilings and original details. Dalal has visited the property almost daily for 10 months. He says the feeling of the space has not worn off.

The building most recently housed Corinthian Baptist Church. The former rectory next door became a duplex. That property sold for $560,000 in April. The condo spans 1,600 square feet. The layout includes an open-concept main level with original woodwork. Modern two-tone kitchen cabinets and high-end appliances contrast with the historic elements. A separate office and a full bathroom with checked tile sit on the first level. Stairs lead to a loft and the primary suite. The primary suite features a walk-in closet, double sinks, a walk-in shower, and updated pointed-arch windows.

Dalal notes that the finishes exceed typical condo standards. He advises buyers to experience the scale in person. The development carries a $250 HOA fee. Buyers can also access a 10-year city property tax abatement. Citizens Bank previously confirmed assistance of $2,500 to $7,500 for eligible buyers. This aid is subject to program availability and lender approval.

Uptown sits between Downtown and Oakland. The area is close to UPMC Mercy, Duquesne University, and PPG Paints Arena. Dalal sees potential in the neighborhood's walkable environment. New businesses are adding to the local investment. McAllister says great neighborhoods need more than housing. Epic Development opened Ghost Coffee Collab and Redhawk Coffee in its buildings. These spots have become neighborhood favorites. Islanders Kitchen, a Caribbean-Haitian food truck, will soon have a permanent home at Ghost Coffee Collab's patio.

The conversion combines rehabilitation with new construction. This approach reflects Epic Development's strategy for the region. The project preserves the past while creating modern living spaces. One unit remains available now. The other homes are coming soon. The development adds to the ongoing changes in Uptown.
