Jimmy Fallon dressed as Nathan Fielder for the cold open of Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show. His guest, Jamie Lee Curtis, took on the role of Elizabeth Holmes in a sketch modeled after the documentary You Can See Everything. The segment served as a comedic introduction to Curtis’s appearance on the program.

Fallon mimicked Fielder’s mannerisms while questioning Curtis about her intentions. Wearing a blonde wig, Curtis answered in a tone reminiscent of the former Theranos founder. She stated that she loved talking to Fallon and was there to interact with him as a human being, not solely to discuss her work.

The host pressed Curtis on whether she was visiting only to publicize her new series. Curtis insisted there was no reason for her to deceive him. She added that she was always being real. After Fallon walked away, Curtis dropped the character and shouted a profane remark at the host.

Curtis used the segment to promote Newlyweds, her new NBC sitcom. The series premiered on Oct. 23. It stars Téa Leoni and Tim Daly in a story about a free-spirited woman and a reserved professor who marry after a short courtship. The show is described as a later-in-life love story.

Curtis co-created Newlyweds with Gail Lerner. She appears in a recurring guest role. Lerner was removed from the series earlier this month due to creative differences. In a statement released at the time, Lerner described the work as the most joyous television experience of her life.

The film that inspired the sketch, You Can See Everything, opened in theaters on Oct. 16. The movie has received positive reviews and strong audience support. It has earned $45.1 million in domestic ticket sales so far. The documentary follows Holmes in the month before she began an 11-year prison sentence for defrauding investors.

Fielder and co-director Lance Oppenheim spent more than three years making the film. The project offers a detailed look at Holmes during that final month. The upcoming season of Newlyweds will continue airing on NBC.
