Creative Artists Agency has signed Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Unwell, the media and entertainment company the pair leads, for representation. The agreement follows discussions that had been underway for weeks.

Under the deal, CAA will work with Cooper and Kaplan to broaden Unwell's business, backing the content company's growth and its push to develop original intellectual property.

The signing comes a few months after Unwell announced in August that it had taken a strategic investment from WTSL, the investment firm founded by Patrick Whitesell, in a deal that valued the company at $500 million. Since its founding in 2023, Unwell has grown into a media and entertainment company aimed at Gen Z women, built on the success of Cooper's podcast Call Her Daddy, with ambitions to develop original programming, nurture emerging talent and deliver entertainment and experiences for younger audiences.

To guide that expansion, Cooper and Kaplan have spent the past year building out Unwell's leadership team around Chief Marketing Officer T.J. Marchetti. The hires include media and technology veteran Joanne Bradford as President, former NFL and Raine Group executive Samir Sama as Head of Ventures and Corporate Development, former Meta and Disney executive Mina Lefevre as Chief Content Officer and Head of Television, former Misfits Gaming and Fox Networks Group executive Lagen Nash as Executive Vice President of Revenue, and former CAA agent Olivia Owen as Head of Talent.

Cooper's podcast, which launched in 2018, has become known for candid conversations with prominent figures across entertainment, politics, sports and culture. The show is distributed through a partnership with SiriusXM, which also powers the Unwell audio channel on its satellite radio service.

Kaplan is an entrepreneur and film and television producer whose credits include To All The Boys I've Loved Before, The Perfect Date and Spontaneous.

Unwell's current slate features the Hulu documentary Call Her Alexc, a Hannah Montana anniversary special for Disney+ and the Netflix property Let's Marry Harry. Among its upcoming projects are Netflix's adaptation of the novel Icebreaker and an adaptation of the novel Deep End.

The Unwell Network has introduced seven new programs in 2026. Its YouTube lineup includes Unwell Winter Games and Unwell Summer Games, a pair of reality competition series.

Cooper, Kaplan and Unwell remain represented by attorneys Matt Thompson and Emily Zipperstein at Sidley Austin LLP, James Feldman at Lichter Grossman Nichols Feldman Rogal Shikora & Clark, and Shaun Gordon at Weintraub Tobin.
