The potential prize ranks as the tenth largest in the game's history and marks the first time British players purchased tickets from the start of a multi-draw run.

The Powerball jackpot reached $835 million heading into Wednesday's drawing. A winner could take the cash as a lump sum of $357.9 million before taxes. This amount would stand as the second highest prize of the year, trailing only the $1.04 billion paid to an Illinois winner in August.
The current total places the prize in the top ten of all Powerball history. The all-time record remains the $2.04 billion jackpot claimed in California in 2022. If the drawing on Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET produces a winner, the game will see its tenth largest payout since inception.
This specific jackpot represents a change in the player base. Powerball sales began in the United Kingdom in July. This is the first multi-drawing stretch where British participants could buy tickets from the very beginning. The expansion adds a new group of buyers to the existing American pool.
The Multi-State Lottery Association stated that international expansion helps jackpots grow faster. The organization noted that the game’s $2 ticket price and jackpot odds have not changed. A British winner would receive payments over 30 years and would not have the option to take a lump sum.
The odds of hitting the top prize remain 1 in 292.2 million. The drawing is scheduled for Wednesday evening. The potential payout reflects the combined sales from both sides of the Atlantic during this period.
