Rock photographer Henry Diltz will be the central focus of The Art of Elysium's upcoming gala.

The event is scheduled for December 12 at Chaplin Studios in Hollywood. Diltz has been selected to serve as the organization's Heaven Visionary. This role involves more than a ceremonial title.

Diltz will curate a one-night-only art installation for the event. The piece is designed to reflect his personal vision of heaven. He intends to recreate the lush atmosphere of Laurel Canyon and Woodstock. These locations were central to his career and his most famous photographs.

The photographer has worked with a long list of major musical acts over the years. His portfolio includes work with America, The Doors, The Eagles, and The Mamas & The Papas. He also captured images of solo artists like James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young. Many of these pictures ended up on album covers. This body of work helped establish his reputation in the music industry.

Jennifer Howell, founder and CEO of The Art of Elysium, commented on the choice of honoree. She noted that Diltz has a specific talent for making people feel comfortable. This allows them to reveal their true selves. She said this spirit aligns with the organization's goal of bringing artists and communities together. Howell described the Chaplin Studios venue as a place where Diltz shares a legacy of imagination with the musicians who created iconic recordings.

The gala will be co-chaired by John Mayer, Alix and McG Nichol, Faryal Ganjehei, and Sima Morrison. Musician Rain Phoenix will also receive an honor at the event. She is the sister of Joaquin and River Phoenix. The organization will give her the Spirit of Elysium award. This recognition is for her work supporting the communities the nonprofit serves.

Elijah Wood and Chris Holmes will handle the music for the night. They will serve as the DJs for the evening. Funds raised at the gala will go toward The Art of Elysium's programs. These programs assist people dealing with illness, isolation, displacement, and disability. The organization focuses on providing connection, dignity, and participation to those in major life transitions.
